Senior Engineer - Database

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
Responsible for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of projects in Enterprise Resource Planning implemented modules area.
Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate.
Responsible for following the project change control process and BAC procurement process including tendering process; responsible for making relevant tender documents, respond to vendor queries, heads evaluation committee, present results to Internal Tender Committee, and prepares relevant Bahrain Tender Board / Ministry of Transport correspondences
Maintains contact with the customer and stakeholders throughout to ensure satisfaction.
Captures and disseminates technical and business information.
Actively supports and engages with experts and stakeholders to ensure continuous improvements are identified through review and benchmarking processes.
Operating System Technical Administration
Coordinates the identification by specialists across the organization of information and communication systems which support the critical business processes, and the assessment of risks to the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of those systems.
Perform onsite and remote Operating System configuration for the implemented modules and manages bug fixes deployment process at the application level.
Contributes to the Enterprise Resource Planning availability management process and its operation and performs defined availability management tasks.
Schedules and supervises all maintenance and installation work.
Ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved.
Provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users and managers.
Database Technical Administration
Maintains and applies up to date, specialist knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles, and a detailed knowledge of the full range of database architectures, software and facilities available. Analyses data requirements, to establish, modify or maintain a data model. Takes account of specialist requirements.
Interprets the model into an appropriate database schema within set policies. Demonstrates, installs and commissions selected products.
Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for databases.
Manages database configuration including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation.
Monitors database activity and resource usage.
Optimizes database performance and plans for forecast resource needs.
Plans effective information storage, sharing and publishing within the organization.
Documents details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated.
Develops installation procedures and standards, and schedules installation work.
Maintains database support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
Applications Security
Assists users in defining their access rights and privileges, and administers logical access controls and security systems.
Examines records as part of specified testing strategies for evidence of compliance with management directives, or the identification of abnormal occurrences.
Contributes to risk-based audit of existing and planned Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
Ensures that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current.
Oracle Technical Administration
Ensures the availability of software, and resources for the Oracle systems (On-premises and Cloud "Fusion and Oracle IAAS") of platform-specific versions of one or more software products. l Takes responsibility for installation projects, providing effective team leadership, including information flow to and from the customer during project work. l Maintains application support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures
Required skills:
University degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification
7-9 years experience in managing Applications installations, Database (Oracle), and Operating Systems and worked on the latest release of Enterprise Resource Management application and Oracle Databases.
