Job Description

KPMG's Tax team is seeking a strong Indirect Tax Manager to support its growing Oman business. The KPMG member firm in Oman, along with the UAE member firm, form KPMG Lower Gulf, which consists of 1,300 staff members, including approximately 100 partners and directors. Our Oman office was established in 1975. We provide audit, tax, and advisory services to various domestic and international clients across all business and economic sectors. We work closely with our clients, assisting them in mitigating risks and highlighting opportunities.


Our Tax team professionals are forward-looking specialists with vast experience and a broad range of skills with deep industry expertise in Inbound and Indirect tax, International tax services, Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring, Transfer pricing solutions, Tax management consulting, Global mobility services, Automatic exchange of information, Tax tools and resources and Value added tax. The successful candidate will help clients across different sectors and coverage from company set-up to cross-border and transfer pricing solutions; we also work with a wide range of national and multi-national organisations to deliver effective tax solutions.

Responsibilities


Provide high-quality Indirect Tax advisory services on a broad range of Indirect Tax issues to a range of corporate clients

Provide expertise on GCC Tax systems and the underlying practices primarily in GCC

Knowledge of GCC VAT and administrative penalties as well as their wide applications and circumstances

Assisting clients in understanding their privilege, possible tax litigation alternatives, as well as the activities needed to resolve their disputes

Involved and supports clients in proactively managing disputes most productively, as well as directing them through complicated tax auditing processes until the investigations were complete

Involved in clients throughout the petition, along with planning reconsideration/waiver letters for tax authorities and appeals to Committees and Courts

Practical experience interacting with legal counsel and coordinating with the Authorities

Maintain, develops, and manage KPMG's strong relationships with clients

Develops innovative solutions and opportunities for our clients

Assist in the implementation of business development initiatives

Analyse problems, identifies core issues, investigate, evaluate, and integrate information

Provides sales support, developing, building, and maintaining critical B2B and B2C client relationships

Monitors and upholds high quality of service and products to clients (internal and external)

Work closely with senior managers, directors and partners who will provide support and opportunities to assist you in realising your full potential

Actively develop, monitor, and mentor from both a technical and commercial perspective

Coach team members and Junior members by demonstrating appropriate behaviour and delegating where appropriate

Identify areas for development and proactively seek opportunities for greater responsibility to increase skill set and build on existing strengths

Enhance KPMG's reputation in the market by delivering high-quality engagement work and project management, showing great attention to detail, and always managing risk

Set up procedures to monitor work progress, quality, and cost against the budget while consulting widely on engagements and other matters

Create a visible presence within KPMG and the external market, increasing interactivity across teams and with clients


Experience And Background


7-8 years of experience in Indirect Tax, either in a Big 4 or consulting firms

Experience in VAT/Indirect within the GCC market

Bachelor's Degree in any related field with strong academic background

Preferably ACA, CTA or Qualified Solicitor or has significant relevant experience in Indirect Taxes

Ability to work on a range of projects simultaneously to demanding timetables

Personal drive and integrity to deliver results within tight deadlines

Commitment to high-quality standards and a detail-oriented approach

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to build and develop strong relationships with clients and multipliers in the market
